Through work with students in several Cleveland and inner ring suburban school districts. The Partnerships for Achieving Student Success (PASS) Academy works with both students and high school faculty in activities directed at increasing student performance in core subject areas and increasing the number of students entering college in college level mathematics and English classes. Students in the selected schools are assessed in the tenth grade using the College's Compass Assessment tool. Based on the identified skills gaps, students are then provided with ancillary programming to enhance their college readiness. The program utilizes multiple facets of operation including 1) summer session involving the use of a research-proven success program from The Ohio State University entitled "Strategies for Student Success", 2) Saturday Academy sessions during the academic school year in which students from various high schools meet with first generation college graduates and volunteer member from local Greek organizations to discuss the realities of college and post-college life, 3)after-school sessions with high school students and college faculty members during the senior academic year that focus on "polishing up" students skills in the academic core subjects, 4) after school sessions during the students' senior year that reinforce oral presentation and communication skills, 5) preparation sessions for ACT and SAT test taking, and 6) collaborative and reinforcing work between high school and college faculty.
