Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) is the only institution of higher education in the region that offers six Federal Trio Programs. The Trio Programs are educational opportunity outreach programs designed to motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Tri-C's Education Talent Search (ETS), Upward Bound (UB), and Upward Bound-Math and Science (UBMS) are opportunity programs designed to increase the number of eligible students who succeed in secondary and postsecondary education.
Each year, more than 1,300 participating students from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District are served by ETS, UB, and UBMS. The participants are potential first generation college students. Through in-school, after-school, summer, and bridge sessions, Cuyahoga Community College provides services such as academic counseling, tutoring, study skill workshops, career exploration workshops, college tours, educational and cultural field trips, preparation for the OGT, ACT, and SAT tests, college admission application assistance and financial aid counseling.
