Care Team Project

Fairless Local Schools

The Care Team Concept is a collaborative partnership between schools, law enforcement, family court, and mental health, drug and alcohol, and family services. Through school-based, integrated, wrap-around services, the Care Team Concept addresses academic, social, emotional and behavioral barriers to student success at school, at home, and in the community.

The program provides tutoring, counseling, mentoring, risk-prevention training, asset building, and family involvement activities. Outcome measures are tracked for attendance, grade performance, achievement testing, discipline and graduation rates. Both individual and school-wide progress is measured.

History

The Care Team program began at Fairless High School in 1995. Since that time, it has helped hundreds of students and has spread to approximately 8 counties and 20 school districts in the state of Ohio. The program has also been the focus of a case study for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration in Washington D.C.
