This is a program for teen parents to help them teach their children. A Children’s librarian presents Storytime To Go for both the teen parent and the children. The librarian will model dialogic reading by asking the group open-ended questions, follow answers with questions and expanding upon what the child says, so the child becomes the teller of the story, as sentence skills and vocabulary grow. These sessions include music, movement, and simple crafts that will reinforce the chosen themes. This process can help not only the child but also the teen parents in developing vocabulary, narrative skills, letter knowledgement among other valuable learning and literacy skills.
