The Workforce Initiative Association offers employment programs for both in-school and out-of-school youth through contracted vendors according to the requirements noted in the Workforce Investment Act. We also offer opportunities for internships through the Third Frontier Internship program and act as a conduit to connect businesses in Stark and Tuscarawas Counties with high school and college students, recent post-secondary education graduates, and adults, for internship opportunities.
The Workforce Initiative Association oversees The Employment Source, One Stop Career Center serving Stark and Tuscarawas Counties. We provide education, employment and training services to job seeker customers through our Resource Room, and we also provide services to employers through our Business Services unit.
History
The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 created the workforce system and youth program regulations under which we are currently operating.
Key Elements
The Workforce Initiative Association provides training scholarships to individuals based on eligibility requirements noted in the Workforce Investment Act. We also provide Rapid Response re-employment and training services to dislocated workers.

Our annual budget varies according to funding streams through the Department of Labor, Ohio Department of Job & Family Services, Fee-for-Service activities, Grants and other contributions.
Outcomes
The Workforce Initiative Association dba The Employment Source’s main outcomes are to assist the unemployed and underemployed in becoming employed, and to assist businesses in connecting with job seekers to fill their job openings.
